Jatin Varma, amicably known as JV, is back with a bang after a hiatus of four years. He is all geared up for his new collection The 12th Month which will be unveiled for the Indian fashionistas in the coming season. Already garnering high appreciation in New York, Singapore and London, this collection was showcased at the ON/OFF in London and at Vendome Luxury Fair in Paris Le Murice. Once again, he has borrowed his inspiration from the nature. While the designs are emphasizing on the frozen days, mystic nights and dreams on ice, the designer is playing around with few basic shades like white, grey, jade green and black. Highly known for his evening wear gowns, the designer has imparted life to his imaginations by weaving them in silk, silk jersey, silk satin, silk velvet and silk duppion, velvet, satin, duppion. Jatin shared, The collection is an amalgamation of the different faces of winter. My designs narrate the story of a flowing river that slowly freezes as the mercury dips and takes on shapes that becomes the spectacle to the eye and also plays on the imagination of the mind.”

Drapes and silhouettes take on the nature of ice and snow on sharp dresses, flowy gowns and structured and bold jackets. He added, With this, I have played around with drapes in structured and fluid forms, highlighting the three appearances of water. One of the gowns in grey and white textures accentuates the effect of ice breaking on frozen water and has been highlighted with some sequined effect.”

Sequined sheets of fabric imitate ice formations spanning over an ocean. The palette of shades used for the collection portrays the reflection of the night sky on frozen lakes and snow clad mountains and the designer has successfully achieved it. In terms of future projects, the designer is planning to come out with his flagship store and one more store in Ambawatta near Mehrauli. With the flagship store, the designer will be trying his hands on Indian wedding wear which will mainly comprise leheng as and sarees. As far as his participation in fashion week is concerned, he states, “Since there is so much happening between FDCI and FDPC, time will decide but most probably I will be sticking with FDCI.” It seems like he is not ready just yet to spill the beans on his future commitments. The glossary of future designs was all game to make your home more beautiful. At DLF Emporio in the capital, where a home decor and life style magazine celebrated its third successful edition with a livable art installation that gave patrons a peep into the future designs. A celebration of evolved living, the evening witnessed the unveiling of the exhibition titled The Future of Design, where iconic offerings by some of the leading names in home dcor and fashion gave one the option of bringing home style and glamour. Offering a holistic approach to design, the participants at the exhibition will put their classiest foot forward and unveil installations that denote ’state of the art design’ to them.

Some of them are Puneet Gupta ’sin stallation on climate change titled ‘0.76 degree Celsius’, the arty scarves by Satya Paul that portray Sultana Hasan’s arts, a splendid silver furniture set up by Adarsh Gill, table inspirations by Ravissant, dcor solutions by Renaissance Homes, an inspiring model by AUDI, a six feet long telephone by Vadhera Art Gallery, organic designs by Klove Studio, Amme De Verrs’Plus Outlook’ and home dcor ideas by Rosebys. “My thought behind designing this chair was to juxtapose perceived realism as we like to see it from our rose tinted glasses.

On The Heels Of The NASCAR Victory

By Gary B. Roberts

It is often suggested by casual NASCAR fans that you need the faster car to win the race. In many cases that is accurate. Throughout the week, the drivers and the crews are spending endless hours tweaking their set-ups to produce the fastest car performance they can before entering the race track later that weekend. As reported by NASCAR news sources repeatedly, there is no such thing as a guarantee. Unfortunately, not every car can be the fastest on the track, so the teams are constantly analyzing new ways to win.

David Reutimann won the 2009 Coca Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway after his crew chief Rodney Childers opted to keep his driver on the track while the leaders pitted. The race was past its half-way point, and it was raining. If the rains continued to pour on the surface of the track, the race would end. As such, Reutimann, and drivers Robby Gordon and Ryan Newman, decided to take their chances with the weather.

At about 6:30 p.m. EST, NASCAR officials were obliged to cancel the race, giving Reutimann his first Sprint Cup win. Wins due to rain-shortened events have always been received with a bit of wink and a nod by drivers and officials alike. Fans typically bemoan a win such as that, perhaps referring to it as a fluke. NASCAR news is definitely filled with such press. Still, NASCAR is a extremely competitive sport, if not the most competitive type of auto racing on earth. Winning is still winning, no matter how exactly it’s accomplished and all drivers would certainly do the ‘rain dance’ if it led to a trip down victory lane. Representatives of NASCAR news sources have been there to document the outstanding results of quite creative racing strategies.

Strategy was definitely a key element in Reutimann’s win. His crew chief followed the weather report, and felt as if it was in his driver’s best interest to stay out. If the rain had ceased, and the cars headed back out on the track, then they were going to have to pit, but according the Childers and Reutimann, they were going to make some important adjustments in order to improve the performance of the car. Such adjustments would have taken too long. They would have sacrificed track position if they had pitted with the leaders, so they opted to wait out the rain. Their strategy turned out to be the winning strategy.

Driver Kyle Busch had maintained the lead for 173 of the 207 laps that were paced, while the winner Reutimann jumped to lead position for five laps and had held fourteenth position at the time the precipitation began.

Similar events involving driver Jeff Gordon were noted, according to certain NASCAR news sources. In 2007, Gordon used almost the same strategy to win a race at Pocono. He did not have a car that could contend for the win, but his team sensed that the rain showers were approaching, and it paid off. What’s amazing is that if the rain had started five seconds later, Gordon would have finished in second. Ryan Newman was in the middle of passing Gordon when NASCAR displayed the caution flag due to the rain.

Sometimes, the stars must align perfectly in order to win a race. Other strategies to help a racer win without needing the fastest vehicle include with fuel mileage and tire strategy.

Back in 2003, Newman and the Penske Racing team were known for using a smaller carburetor to stretch their fuel. Perhaps half of his eight wins during the 2003 racing season were due to fuel mileage strategy.

In the past, some drivers have taken a two-tire pit stop in order to obtain track position late in the race, so they could go for the win. Often, it has allowed the driver to make it.

It seems that a win is a win in NASCAR. It makes no difference how the trophy was gained, the driver will take it every time.

I, like many others, am drawn to the spectacle of NASCAR racing and keep up on NASCAR news items when I can. Writing about NASCAR offers some added dimensions.

Some tips on Online Car marketing

By Garrett36 Pierson36

Years ago, some one in the car industry had a stroke of genius. They came up with an idea of engraving their name on each and every car that comes out of their factories. This small idea has generated free publicity worth millions of dollars for these car companies over the years. M.K. tried to adapt the car company’s’ idea for his business. M.K. was a general contractor. He used to go to houses and fix them up. He could handle everything from fixing tables to installing electrical lines to plumbing work. M.K. thought why should he advertise General motors instead of his own company? So he bought a customized magnetic sign for $45.95 and stuck it on his truck. Whenever he went to a house to work on it, he made it a point to park the car on the street instead of the highway. Many cars passing by would slow down and people would jot down M.K.’s number from the magnetic sign. The 46-dollar sign generated so much business for M.K. that he stopped buying ads in yellow pages and local newspapers saving him hundreds of dollars a year. M.K. started asking people how they found out about him to track the results his advertising dollars generated and he found out that 70% of people had read his truck! Action summary: * Why promote a car company when you can promote your own company instead? Customized stickers and decals can be bought for as low as 15 dollars. Why not invest in them? * Go one step ahead. Instead of promoting niche, wear shirts and caps that bear your company logo on them. This alone will run up more business for your company. Buy shirts for your employees too. When big companies like Com cast can do it, why can’t you?

(Science experiments) Some advice on buying Car on Ebay

By Garrett36 Pierson36

When you start shopping for a car, eBay can be the best place to discover some uniquely good deals. The world’s largest auction anywhere, eBay has all types of cars from newer cars to vintage to custom. You can also find parts and accessories for cars. Not only that but, most of the items that you successfully purchase on eBay will be at a significant discount.Just some of the cars found on ebay recently include Dodge Avenger, Hummer H3t, Dodge Duran go, Oldsmobile F-85, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Lincoln Navigator, Mercury Mont ego, Buick Estate Wagon and even a few custom cars. How Ebay works. When it comes to online shopping, eBay has it all. The world’s largest online shopping site by far, boasting 147 million registered users (and growing) who reside in over 25 different countries, eBay is a huge online garage sale, shopping center, toy dealer, car dealer, flea market and auction site.Literally everything is bought and sold on eBay, everything legal, that is. From the really bizarre, like a partially eaten grilled cheese sandwich that is believed to have the image of the Virgin Mary on it, to the everyday, like books, furniture, golf clubs, audio equipment and dresses, to the items with the wow factor like airplanes and Lamborghini, eBay offers a diverse collection of items at great discounts for people to bid on or buy outright. How to Find the Car you Want. When shopping on eBay, finding what you want is a breeze. Plug the appropriate term into the search window and you will undoubtedly find many related items. Type in a keyword or two and select a category, then search. If you need more options, go with the advanced search so that you can set more parameters. Once the listings are returned to you, browse the headings to find items that reflect what you want. You can click on the heading links and read the actual listings and if that isn’t enough for you, contact the seller via email to get all the information that you need. How to Bid: Once you have discovered that special car that you want, submit your bid. You can bid just enough to outbid your competition or you can set your bid at the highest you are willing to pay. The eBay system will bid in increments until your limit is reached. If you have to leave the eBay system you can still get your bid alerts via email. If someone outbids you the system will automatically email you to let you know. Many people have the alerts sent to their cell phones so that it chimes when they receive an email. This way it is possible to log onto the eBay site and slightly increase your bid if you so desire. Resources for Helping you Bid: Some eBay bidders will wait until the very last seconds of the auction and then make their bid. This last bid is usually placed just before the auction closes meaning there is no time for any other bids to be placed. This practice is called “sniping” and it is highly controversial. Some bidders feel that it is perfectly fine and an effective strategy for winning the auction. Other bidders, however, feel that the practice is unethical and sneaky. Whether you snipe or not is a personal decision. It is important, though, that you be aware that it is done regularly on eBay.You should also beware of unusual but possible scams. These have some vital tips and guidelines that will help you.You find great deals for pretty much everything on eBay and cars are no exception. You can find the car of your dreams on eBay and now that you know the ropes, it will be that much easier.

Some advice on choosing (science articles) the right car

By Garrett36 Pierson36

We all dream about the car we’d like, Maybe we see one in the street and think ‘that’s the one for me’ then, being fickle, will see another a little further along the street and say ‘No, that’s the car I want!’. Don’t worry, this is quite normal, very few people know exactly what they want. Here, we give you some considerations on choosing the right car for you so you don’t end up saddled with a car that, frankly, disappoints you! Remember that you are likely to spend a lot of your time sitting in it and the model you choose will say a lot about you to other people. What will be your new car’s main purpose? Your lifestyle and what your new car will be used for is the very first thing you need to think about. Basically, your dream car may be TT Roadster (a two-seater) bit if the car is to be used to drop the kids off to school, then it really won’t be suitable! Consider this ‘. ‘ Is the car going to be used for family trips? ‘ commuting to work in? (then choose a diesel to get the most from your fuel) ‘ will it be a sporty second car for week-ends? ‘ Does it need to used for off-roading? ‘ Will it be needed for business? ‘ Are you married or single? Do you have children? etc etc This will then help you build a picture in mind of the car that is realistically right for you The costs Another important consideration is running costs: ‘ What insurance group is the car? The higher the group, the more your insurance premium will be ‘ If your car is going to do a lot of mileage (over 12,000 miles a year), then think about choosing a car with a diesel engine ‘ these are better on fuel consumption ‘ More expensive cars will have higher servicing and maintenance bills Comfort Depending on what purpose your car is used for, comfort is a consideration. For commuting or high mileage vehicles, the car should be of the optimum comfort and, ideally, have air conditioning. If it is a fun car, say a sporty number for weekends, then be prepared that the ride will be slightly harder (but a lot of fun!) Featured Merchant By now you should have a good idea of the type of car you want and what it needs to be like to suit your circumstances! Now, think about how much you can comfortably afford and start doing your research! The internet is a good place to start looking, you can research prices, specifications and, if you are after a new car, for a bit of fun, you can even visit a manufacturers site and build a car to your own specifications! Also, scour the motor section of your local newspaper to see what finance deals and offers are on at local dealerships. You could pick up a good deal! Happy Motoring!

Some (forensic science) tips on the right way to buy a car

By Garrett36 Pierson36

Your no-nonsense guide to getting the right car at the right price. Buying a car can be quite daunting. With so many makes, models and finance options available and other decisions, it can be difficult to find the deal that leaves you 100% happy. However, the following pointers should help you make an educated decision when buying a new or used car. Where to buy? There are number of ways to buy a new or used car ‘ a car dealership isn’t your only option. For example, there are independent dealers, importers, brokers, auction, online, car supermarkets or privately. Here we weigh up the pros and cons of each of them: Car and Independent Dealers Using a dealer to buy your new or used car can be convenient as you can have a test drive and the salesman should be more versed in the car details as compared to say buying a car from a broker, or by buying a car online. Dealers will offer deals such as free insurance or low-rate finance. January ‘ traditionally a very slow month for car dealers who offer extra specials incentives to try and get your custom - is also a time where you may be able to snap up a bargain. Most new cars come with a two or three warranty (most with breakdown cover included as well for the same period). If you have a car to part exchange, the car dealer will normally take it as part of a deposit, which means it is off your hands without the hassle of trying to sell it privately. However, do bear in mind that you will not get full the market value for it. However, the downside of buying from a car dealership is that their prices can be higher than elsewhere as they need to cover the cost of the showroom and staff. And, if there aren’t any finance incentives at the dealership, choosing their finance scheme will be, in most cases, expensive. Importers If you a buy a car in from Europe, you do stand to save money, though in some cases, UK deals are increasingly competitive. Lower prices over here and exchange rate fluctuations mean imports aren’t quite the outstanding bargains they used to be. Brokers A broker is an intermediary who negotiates with a dealer on your behalf to get you a cut-price car. Car brokers use their bulk ‘buying power to secure discounts which they then pass on to the customer (after they’ve taken their cut of course!) Auction You can be sure of snapping up a bargain if you buy at auction, but it is best if you visit a few auctions before taking the plunge. Visit and learn the ropes or take a knowledgeable friend. With Auctions, you will get more legal protection at an auction than buying privately. Car Supermarkets Car Supermarkets offer a huge choice at competitive prices. However, there is little room for negotiation and you may get a low bid for your part-exchange and limited pre-sales checks. Some car supermarkets also charge you extra for a warranty (if the maker’s cover has expired), a history check and road tax. Online This process is all carried out online. You can visit a manufacturer’s website or a specialist online car broker such as Jam Jar. Everything can be completed online - finding and choosing of the car, the specification options, finance options, delivery details, and, in some cases even part exchanges. The disadvantage to this service that you can not test drive the car. Privately Buying privately is a risky way to get a car as you have very little legal protection should anything go wrong. Many dealers masquerade as private sellers to duck their legal responsibilities, so always check that the log book details match up. Always take someone who knows about cars along with you and always view any private car in broad daylight when any dinks, dents and damage are visible! Financing your new car Once you’ve decided where to buy your next car, you need to think about finance. Very few of us buy a car with cash, and borrowing money is the only option. However, there are so many different types of finance to choose from, it can be difficult knowing which is the right one for you. Hire Purchase (HP) HP is where a deposit is followed by regular monthly repayment. However, the car is owned by the finance company until the loan is repaid. So, if you fail to maintain the finance payments you could lose the vehicle. Hire Purchase is fairly easy to obtain and widely available, and with it you also get additional protection under the Consumer Credit Act Personal Loan (as opposed to Manufacturer’s finance) A personal loan is probably the cheapest way to buy a new or used car as personal loan providers tend to offer lower interest rates than traditional other car financing methods. Also, as you are classed as a ‘cash purchaser’ (because you already have the finance in place) you are in a strong position to negotiate a good deal. As the loan will not be secured on the vehicle, the car is owned outright by you. Manufacturers schemes These are offered by manufacturers, dealers, finance companies and some banks for the purchase of new or nearly new cars. More often than not, you will be paying interest at a higher interest rate than that offered on a personal loan. With manufacturers schemes, you can part exchange your own vehicle and may also need to make a deposit. You will then have a finance agreement for the remainder of the cost of the vehicle. As with HP, if you do fail to keep up the repayments on the vehicle, it may be repossessed. Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) PCP schemes available from car dealers as well as banks. You pay a small deposit and a set amount of monthly payments. When the contract ends, you have three options: ‘ you can hand the car back and owe nothing, ‘ you can pay the balance (which, in any contract you sign, will be stated as the Minimum Guaranteed Future Value) and keep the car, ‘ you can trade it in for another, and begin a new PCP. PCPs are best for people who like a new car every two or three years. If you are looking to keep a car long term, then personal or hire-purchase loans will be cheaper. By now you should have a good idea of where to buy your car from and how to finance your purchase. Here are’ Ten top tips on what to do when buying ‘ ‘. from a car dealer or broker ‘ Do your research first ‘ get a good idea of what car you want and how much you are prepared for pay for it and stick to the price ‘ When the salesman asks you what your budget is, always come in at least 500 under what you are really prepared to pay. Salesmen will always add 500 on top of your budget because by the time you are sitting down and talking about figures with him or her, it is obvious you really want the car and will find a way to finance the ‘extra’ 500 ‘ If you are part exchanging your vehicle, check out it’s value somewhere like Parkers Price guide. While you will never get 100% market value on your p/x from a dealer, at least you have a rough figure as to what it should be. ‘ Always be confident, polite, but firm. You are likely to get a better deal if you come across as someone who won’t be messed about with! ‘ Consider buying an ex-demo. These are normally no older than three months’ old, but you can expect to get up to 15% off the new price! ‘privately ‘ Always take someone with you to give a second opinion ‘ two pairs of eyes are better than one and go during broad daylight so that any scrapes or dents will show up ‘ Always meet the seller at their house so you can check they are genuine and that all documents.
